After over 20 years in government employment, Lipkin left to work on his own. Acting as a consultant to central banks, cryptocurrency companies, and security printers, he developed proven methods to adapt familiar financial documents to the digital realm. He also established universally-applicable technological processes for printing these hybrid documents that combine innovative financial blockchain technologies with definitive financial instruments. Such secure financial instruments can be used with cryptocurrencies, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), and other digital payment systems. During this time, Lipkin has focused on the development of “Cryptobanknotes”, a term he originated in 2017. These are hybrid banknotes that can be used with stablecoins, CBDCs, and other cryptocurrencies. Cryptobanknotes are traditional banknotes that can convey their value over an electronic network using public and private key cryptographic technology. Combining the best of blockchain technology and the properties of cash, these CBDC-ready notes also enable innovative security features that were impossible before.
